Some people seem to have some trouble doing this. Here's two ways.
1. Launch any steam game. Join or start a game. Type Status, and look for the number next to your name. That's your steamID.
2. If you don't want to do in to a game...
Find your Steam installation directory, it's usually 'C:\Program Files\Steam':
Open steam.log in notepad.
Look for the first line that says 'ConnectionPool' in the second column:
CsComm ConnectionPool Apr-19-2006 15:02:30.795 [3980] Did not find an existing connection, attempting new connection 0,192.168.0.38:27030 for 0:0:1234567
The end of the line should read '...for 0:0:123456'
'0:0:123456' in this case is your actual steam ID.
Please note that SteamIDs can be both 0:0 and 0:1.
